From the moment he arrived seven weeks early, our son Arjun has been a fighter. Born at just four pounds, he faced his first surgery for meconium ileus at only five days old. Despite negative genetic screenings during pregnancy, the devastating diagnosis of cystic fibrosis finally came six weeks later, while he was still fighting in the NICU.
 

Cystic fibrosis has meant a life of relentless battles for Arjun. He has persevered through nine major surgeries, spent over seven collective months in the hospital, and endured countless procedures—from ostomy bags and blood thinner shots to CTs, MRIs, and far too many NG tubes to recall. His daily life is managed by breathing treatments and more pills than we can count, all while dealing with persistent abdominal issues.
 
But what has given us not just hope, but tangible results, is the focused, life-saving work of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. They are best in class in investing in a cure, and their efforts have led to game-changing treatments. For Arjun, the drug Trikafta, developed by Vertex, has been a miracle, radically improving his quality of life and life expectancy.

However, the fight is far from over. Treatments like Trikafta—known as modulators—are incredible, but they are not a cure. Many people with CF cannot take them because their specific genetic mutations do not respond, or because the side effects are simply intolerable. Every person with CF deserves a life free from this disease.
