Mountain Safety & Legal Compliance

Shred the Night operates under New York State Ski Safety Law, which applies to all skiers and snowboarders at all times, including during special events.
By participating, you agree to follow all posted signage, ski patrol directives, lift operator instructions, and mountain policies.
Violations may result in immediate removal from the eventloss of lift privileges, and revocation of event access.

Registration & Check-In Requirements
All racers must check in one (1) hour prior to their chosen start time.

  • For those starting at 8:30 AM (first chair time), check-in begins at 7:30 AM.
  • Registration includes identity verification, waiver completion, and safety briefing acknowledgment.
  • Bibs/tracking devices must be worn at all times while participating.

Fatigue, Drowsiness & Fitness-to-Ski Policy

This is a 24-hour endurance event, and fatigue management is critical.
  • Participants must remain alert, responsive, and in full control at all times.
  • Excessive drowsiness, slowed reaction time, confusion, unsteady movement, or impaired judgment will be treated as a serious safety risk.
  • Event staff and ski patrol reserve the absolute right to remove any participant who shows evidence of severe fatigue or inability to ski or ride safely
Removal for fatigue is not a penalty. It is a safety intervention to protect you, other skiers and riders, lift operators, and patrol staff.
No refunds or reinstatement will be granted for removals due to fatigue or safety concerns.

Chairlift Safety – Zero Tolerance Policy

Chairlift operations are one of the highest-risk environments on the mountain.
Sleeping or dozing on the chairlift is strictly prohibited.

This includes:
  • Closing eyes for extended periods
  • Head nodding
  • Missed load/unload cues
  • Any behavior suggesting loss of alertness
Violations will result in immediate removal from the competition and loss of mountain access.

Speed Control & Reckless Behavior

Participants must ski or snowboard in control at all times, regardless of:
  • Time of day or night
  • Snow conditions
  • Crowd levels
  • Competitive standing
Excessive speed, straight-lining, reckless maneuvers, jumping in closed areas, or failure to yield will not be tolerated.
Any of the following will result in immediate removal from the event and the mountain:
  • Skiing or riding beyond your ability level
  • Endangering others
  • Ignoring slow zones or closed terrain
  • Disregarding ski patrol instructions

There are no warnings required for removal in cases of reckless behavior.

Lift passes may be revoked at any time for:
Safety violations
Failure to follow event rules
Failure to comply with staff or patrol instructions

Closed trails and terrain closures must be respected at all times, regardless of competition goals.

Final Reminder: Safety First, Always

Shred the Night is about endurance, heart, and giving back—but no number of runs outweigh safety.

By registering, each participant acknowledges:
They are physically and mentally fit to participate
They will monitor their own fatigue
They will accept removal if deemed unsafe by staff or patrol
This event succeeds only when everyone finishes safely.
