Cookies for a Cure 2024!

Sunday, November 3 from 4 pm to 6:30 PM
Lyon Village Community House
1920 North Highland Street, Arlington, VA 22201

Back for a second year, this time with cocktails! Grab your friends and spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon learning how to how to simply and easily decorate stunningly beautiful sugar cookies with Royal Icing. Expert instructors Sylvia Prosak (2023 Arlington County Fair's First Prize Winner for Holiday Cookies) and Janet Weiner will give you step by step instructions to create cookies that will impress your guests this holiday season.

Each student will receive 7 pre-baked holiday-themed cookies ready to be decorated. The designs will include a snowflake, a snowglobe, a mitten, a Christmas tree, a snowman, a holiday house and a holiday "ugly sweater." You can decorate your cookies to look exactly like ours, or use the techniques we will teach you to make your own unique designs.

Delicious home-baked sugar cookies, 5 colors of icing, unique sprinkles and other supplies will be provided. You will also receive a document with our recipes, tips and tricks for future reference. The class will last for 2 1/2 hours and will include a box to take your treats home in. Please wear old clothes or bring an apron.

For your convenience, this year we are offering the following add-ons to your registration:

-- Prebaked "cookie kits" to take home and decorate with your new skills! (We won't tell anyone your cookies were actually baked by Sylvia).
-- Prefilled bags of piping-consistency icing, so you can skip the mess of making your own icing at the perfect consistency. (Piping icing is used for fine lines and outlining before flooding.)
-- Prefilled bottles of flooding-consistency icing, so you can skip mixing icing colors too! (Flood icing is used for filling larger areas.)

IMPORTANT: Bring cash or install the Venmo app if you are interested in purchasing a special Christmas cocktail or raffle tickets for our cookie-themed raffle prize!

Due to the generosity of our instructors, 100% of the ticket cost and all monies collected at this event will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Metro DC Chapter. The Weiner family, who has two adult children with CF, is deeply grateful for your support for this event and the quest for a cure for all people with this disease.
