Cookies for a Cure 2026
A Weiner Family Fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
When: Sunday, January 25th from 2 pm to 4:30 PM
Where: Lyon Village Community House, 1920 North Highland Street, Arlington, VA 22201
Grab your friends and spend a fun and relaxing Sunday afternoon learning how to simply and easily decorate stunningly beautiful Valentine's Day sugar cookies with Royal Icing. Expert instructors Sylvia Prosak (2023 Arlington County Fair's First Prize Winner for Holiday Cookies) and Janet Weiner will give you step by step instructions to create cookies that will show your love to your special someone!
Each student will receive 8 home-baked cookies ready to be decorated as well as 3 colors of icing, unique Valentine's Day sprinkles and other supplies. You will also receive an instruction booklet with our cookie and icing recipes, detailed instructions, and tips and tricks for future reference. You can decorate your cookies to look exactly like ours, or use the techniques we will teach you to make your own unique designs.
The class will last for 2 1/2 hours and will include a box to take your treats home in. Please wear old clothes or bring an apron. This class is appropriate for adults and children over age 10, with an adult companion.
For your convenience, we are offering the following add-ons to your registration:
-- Sets of 3 bags of prefilled and colored piping-consistency icing, so you can skip the mess of making and coloring your own icing at the perfect consistency.
-- Sets of 3 prefilled and colored bottles of flooding-consistency icing.
IMPORTANT: Bring cash or have the Venmo app handy if you would like to purchase a glass of wine or take part in some of the fun offerings we will have available while we decorate cookies.
Due to the generosity of our instructors, 100% of the ticket cost and all monies collected at this event will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Metro DC Chapter. The Weiner family, who has two adult children with CF, is deeply grateful for your support for this event and the quest for a cure for all people with this disease.
