We are so excited to announce the 10th annual Drives Fore Drake Charity Classic, presented by Window World. Over the past 9 years DFD has raised over $580,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Despite the fact we could not hold an in-person event last year, the generous giving and support from so many was amazing. Thank you to all who have participated, donated, or volunteered in the past. It is making a difference! Please join us this year.

Drake is the eleven-year-old son of Devin & Sallie Staley and is living with Cystic Fibrosis. He is a spunky kid and fierce competitor. Drake loves baseball, basketball, math, flips from the diving board, UNC Tarheels and raw oysters. Upon meeting him you would never know he is living with an incurable and life threatening disease. Since birth, Drake has participated in clinical trials and has endured hours of treatments to try and keep him well. He spends about an hour a day wearing a vest that shakes his lungs to keep sticky mucus from building up. Over the past year he has taken over 16,000 pills (around 45/day) to maintain health- BUT THAT IS CHANGING! We are thankful that some of these medicines are not only treating the secondary problems caused by CF but they are also targeting the underlying defect. While DFD has been held in Drake’s honor, our hope is that DFD fundraising will make a difference in the lives of all who are living with CF.

Cystic fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. CF impairs respiratory and digestive functions and affects approximately 30,000 children and young adults in the United States. Tremendous advancements in specialized CF care have added years and quality of life to the lives of people with CF. There have been dramatic improvements from the 1950s, when a child with CF rarely lived long enough to attend elementary school to today, with many living long enough to realize their dreams of attending college, pursuing careers, getting married, and having kids. Although there has been significant progress in treating this disease, there is still no cure and too many lives are cut far too short.

That is why we need your help today to fund the research necessary to find a cure and provide hope to the thousands of patients struggling with CF. The mission of the CFF is to assure the development of the means to cure and control CF and to improve the quality of life for those with the disease. Through fundraising events like the Drives Fore Drake, we can give children and adults with CF the quality of life and future they deserve.
